Green Bay Packers: Preseason stock watch; who’s up? who’s down?
In Sunday afternoon’s Packers/Steelers preseason game Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson went up for a catch and came down immediately to his knees.
“The initial diagnosis on #Packers WR Jordy Nelson is a torn ACL, source said”. Rogers said. “I think it’s disappointing that you have injuries like this in the pre-season”. “Frightful news. Awaiting MRI results to confirm”, Ian Rapaport of NFL.com tweeted. In an effort to get to the postseason, then, the Packers will now need a plan for life without Nelson. According to the Green Bay Packers quarterback, the sheer number of matches scheduled before and during the NFL season would most likely contribute to the wear and tear of the bodies of NFL players.
Jordy Nelson was seen limping off during a preseason game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday and the injury has fans upset that this could change the possibilities of the Packers going to the Super Bowl.
Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy reacts on the sidelines against the Pittsburgh Steelers during the second quarter at Heinz Field. “He will miss the remainder of the season.” After recording 91 receptions, 1,287 receiving yards, and 12 touchdown receptions in 2014, he is clearly good enough to be the top receiver on other teams around the league.
Nelson produced 98 catches, 1,519 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2014. Rodgers was angry at the end of the game with Nelson injuring himself after a reception and planting his foot in an unlucky way. Rookie Ty Montgomery, who has impressed so far in practice, moves up to third receiver. Randall Cobb is now the Packers leading receiver.
Wayne isn’t much of a downfield threat like Nelson, but you could do worse than finding another possession weapon for Aaron Rodgers to hit with 10-to-15 yard darts on three or five-step drops.
Nelson, 30, is coming off his best professional season.
He’s been a staple in Green Bay’s offense, but has struggled to stay healthy in the past.
