Body of missing boater found in Orange County lake
A man in his early 20s is presumed drowned at Professor’s Lake in Brampton.
Authorities discovered the body of a fisherman who went missing in Lake Irvine on Saturday, August 22, 2015.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department said in a tweet Sunday that the body of the man was found in 25 feet of water.
That friend, who was at the front of the boat, heard a splash and turned to see that the man had fallen into the water, Lackey said.
Police say the man in 20’s was walking along the shore of the lake with friend when he went in water but didn’t come back out.
Lackey said the missing man wasn’t wearing a life vest.
Fire and sheriff’s officials initially launched a search-and-rescue effort with boats on the lake surface and a helicopter in the air.
Members of the dive team continued the search well into the night and resumed the search on Sunday morning.
According to witnesses, the man fell into the water and disappeared with two other men attempting to save him.
