Video shows FSU QB punching woman at bar | WFLA
The woman felt Johnson was too aggressive in pushing past her, so she confronted him with her right arm raised in a fist. He was not expected to play a significant role for Florida State this year and has been suspended indefinitely by the team following the incident. The woman says Johnson pushed past her aggressively while she was in line waiting for drinks.
The state attorney, Willie Meggs, says he opted to charge Johnson for battery after seeing the footage.
LSU recently dismissed a player from its team following an incident where he allegedly hit a woman in a parking lot. He was later released after posting his $500 bail.
Johnson eventually charged with misdemeanor battery and turned himself into police on June 30.
Johnson was named by witnesses who were at the scene and were later shown the footage.
Tuesday, Johnson retained well-known criminal defense attorney Jose Baez, who said in a news release he “would investigate the accusations against Johnson thoroughly”.
Florida State will also likely investigate whether Johnson was drinking at the bar, as he is underage. In a statement, the school attributed the suspension to a violation of athletic department policy.
