HTC’s A9 Hero Is an iPhone 6 Knockoff
Following a $160-million operating loss this past quarter, HTC CFO Chialin Chang said that his company would bounce back by cutting 15 percent of its workforce, and by releasing a “fashionable and trendy” new phone.
The product is aimed to revive HTC’s core smartphone business.
We might also be seeing new nomenclature for HTC’s next flagship devices, as it will apparently be called the HTC A9, or Aero 9, and it’s being dubbed as HTC’s “Hero” phone to pull it out of the market share slump that the company is now facing.
They uncover a case that greatly looks like the back of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
HTC followed that design with something similar in the One M8 and the M9, both of which have full metal bodies with that small plastic break. The curved edges and antenna lines are identical, though HTC’s rear camera sits in the upper middle instead of the corner. It will have a 5.2-inch quad HD display, a deca-core MediaTek X20 processor, 4GB RAM, and a 3,500mAh battery. These specs are far from certain though, and we may see some differences when the handset is (hopefully) announced this October.
Still, it is hard to envision any single phone overcoming HTC’s present money crisis even with Apple’s outline in play.
