Set the Mood With Philips Hue Wireless Dimming Kit
Philips Hue is a web-enabled LED home lighting system that combines LED lights with intuitive technologies.
Unlike the Hue Tap, Philips’ first physical remote that was actually powered by pressing its individual buttons, the new dimmer controller is slightly more complicated since it allows you to adjust the brightness of the bulbs in your home, not just turn them on or off. As a result, it instead relies on a small replaceable battery that should be good for about three years of use.
Alright, so once you have made a decision to step into the world where lights are wirelessly controlled and bought the $40 Kit, you install it. Installation is pretty simple as there is not all that much in the first place. Using the dimming kit is as simple as plugging in one of the Philips bulbs. A single dimmer unit can control 10 Hue bulbs, but keep in mind that it won’t work with any other Hue products. This means that you can now modernize your home lighting without the need to call an electrician or open up walls to access wiring; particularly useful if you rent your home. According to Philips, its new Wireless dimming kit can also be used to connect with now available Philips Hue compatible product through Philips Hue Bridge. It also allows its users to tune shades of white light or create any color. “With the kit, anyone is able to begin enjoying the simplicity of modern dimming”, says Leonardo Avenzzano, the marketing chief for Hue.
In terms of price, the dimming kit isn’t bad; it’ll cost $39.95 once available next month (beginning with North American stores). Headquartered in the Netherlands, Philips posted 2014 sales of Euro 21.4 billion and employs approximately 106,000 employees with sales and services in more than 100 countries.
