Jaguar F-Pace promises “unrivalled breadth of dynamic ability”
The upcoming Jaguar F-Pace is rumored to spawn a whole family of crossovers for the British marque. That will run alongside the new F-Pace which is slated to launch early next year. Apart from this company insiders have stated that we should not think of just one SUV but a family of SUVs.
It is a change of approach for Jaguar, a company that has rarely focused on family vehicles. This one will be little more than four meters in its length, but no further details are available at the moment.
The F-Pace when it comes out will be the first competitor Jaguar has had to the likes of BMW’s X models and Audi’s Q range. Now there are no plans for a bigger 7-seat SUV.
The sporty nature of the new family of SUVs will not be confined to their styling, as they look set to do justice to the “Pace” suffix in their name. The intentions are to produce a premium baby SUV, for which the company will charge expensively. It is however unlikely that the model range will extend above the F-Pace, with larger seven-seater models. Eventually, a large, premium SUV should become a reality, but not in the next two years. The yet unnamed and unconfirmed Jaguar SUV coupe might also get a high-performance SVR version.
The Jaguar F-Pace will make its official debut in production form at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show starting September 15. Ian Callum, Jaguar’s design director, has said recently, “It’s coming”, when talking about a potential electric Jaguar, while JLR has applied for a series of patents for technology related to inductive charging.
Recent application for trademarking the “EV-Type” moniker suggests Jaguar might be planning all-electric versions as well in the near future, but anything else on this subject at this moment is pure speculation.
