California man dies after being run over by World War II tank
Wright was a guest for a family reunion Saturday afternoon at the property of Herm Rowland, CEO of the popular candy brand Jelly Belly, a Fairfield staple.
The Solano County Coroner’s Office identified the victim on Monday as Kevin Wright, 54, of Suisun City.
Carter said the tank’s driver, 62-year-old Dwayne Brasher, is married to Lisa Rowland Brasher, who is Rowland’s daughter and the current Jelly Belly chief executive officer.
Rowland collects vintage military vehicles and restores them in a facility on his Fairfield property called “The Tank Barn”, the Daily Republic reported. Wright was a passenger and was sitting on the front edge of the tank, facing inward. Because the tank traveled down a mud hill, Wright fell off and landed instantly in entrance of the tank.
The California Highway Patrol says drugs and alcohol don’t appear to have played a part in the accident. “We are all still in a state of shock”, Rowland said in a statement.
“If anyone needed anything, needed to borrow something, needed to fix something, or if he needed to get someone something, or help them with a money situation, he was always there for anyone in need”, Daniella said. To have him die so tragically during our family reunion is impossible to comprehend.
Herman Rowland Senior released a statement saying: “Our family is grieving over this tragic loss”.
Wright was “very passionate” about Rowland’s World War II vehicle collection, including the M581 tractor he was riding, Carter said.
The accident happened at a family reunion. “We are reaching out to the appropriate agencies to provide intensive counseling to everyone who witnessed and was affected by this tragedy”. Wright Family The father of two was remembered as a motorcycle enthusiast and a tinkerer who could fix nearly anything.
