Vixen: featurette explains Arrow and The Flash links

Inheriting her family’s Tantu Totem, Mari can access the powers of animals-anything from the super-strength of a gorilla to the speed of a cheetah. He goes on to tease the “expensive” action sequences the animated format allows them to do. Vixen is based on the DC Comics character Mari McCabe aka Vixen, a superhero crime-fighter with the power to mimic the abilities of any animal that has ever lived on Earth.
Right. Yeah, I think that was kind of the impetus behind hiring me, just to have that option.
Megalyn Echikunwoke: I’ve done just the tiniest bit before this. This is really just her discovering who she is and her power, and kind of claiming her identity as Vixen. So, I think it’s overdue, this character coming to the screen.
I think the world is hungry for this type of superhero. From what I’m sensing, they’re really excited about her, because she deserves to exist.
“Vixen will resonate with a lot of people”, Echikunwoke foresees. With word out that CBS’ Supergirl might also cross over with these shows, and the fact that nobody is quite ready to rule out the upcoming Titans live-action series as part of this world, things are looking more and more expansive in the CW’s world. If you’re unfamiliar with the idea, it’s an animated show set within the Arrow and The Flash universe created on The CW.
“This is a lot of fun for us because we are actually doing something that we have never done before”. The former Suicide Squad and occasional Justice League member is getting an animated series on CW Seed, the network’s home for digital only series.
No, I didn’t find it limiting at all. I was once on Family Guy for a second, and…other than that, I haven’t done much. Whatever I think I can bring to the table, they’re very much interested to hear it and put it into the show if it makes sense.
