Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver Jordy Nelson to be out of the
Jordy Nelson is a game-changer. He’s tremendous in the locker room.
Nelson wasn’t the only one injured. Quarterback AJ McCarron suffered a rib injury, Pat Sims has missed time with a thigh injury. He had a career high 98 receptions for 1519 yards last season.
“It was determined that WR Jordy Nelson sustained a significant right knee injury in yesterday’s game at Pittsburgh“, the Packers said in a statement. I believe McCarthy and company will be able to effectively rally around their youth at the receiver position and possibly even transition their offense into something special with the increased use of Rodgers. We wonder what would’ve happened had T.O. been 100%. But we wouldn’t count on the NFL cutting the preseason down anytime soon, and NFL players are just going to have to find a way to deal with it.
Nelson caught a quick hitch to the right side on second and 5 at the Pittsburgh 25 on the game’s opening possession. He went on to explain that Nelson could not have avoided his fate. When he looked at the unit’s potential recently, Nelson pointed out that it was unlikely that he and Cobb would each crack the 90-reception mark this season because of all the other weapons the team had in the passing game. But, as Aaron Rodgers implied, injuries suffered in meaningful games somehow don’t hurt as badly, or feel as senseless. He wouldn’t confirm the ACL tear, but he seemed agitated and was uncharacteristically short with his answers.
“It’s hard to lose a guy like that in a meaningless game”, Rodgers said.
Donnie Avery: He has bounced around in his career, never truly put up outstanding numbers, but he could fit in with the Packers. “He talks a lot and I think he’s that type of player – who is dirty and will take shots on the quarterback“.
Green Bay, however, still have potent targets for the strong armed Rodgers, who led them to a 12-4 regular season mark in 2014.
Randall Cobb’s value will also remain virtually the same. He had just two catches in his rookie season for 16 yards but took first-team reps after Nelson went down, making him a late-round flier worth exploring. Jared Abbrederis has been sidelined by a concussion.
The good news for the Giants was that the starting middle linebacker Jon Beason did not consider his left knee sprain serious. He said he felt he knew the offense comprehensively.
“I really didn’t (expect that)”, Quin said. “I think the opportunities are going to come for him”. If that’s the case, yeah, I’m ready. “I have a family – they see, they hear. So”. “I’ll do my part”. He hosts an annual charity softball game – one well-attended by his Packers teammates – that benefits Young Life, which the wide receiver’s Web site describes as “a Christian nonprofit organisation that pairs adult volunteers with mentor students”.
