Sheryl Sandberg joins the board of SurveyMonkey, where her late husband was
Sandberg’s husband, Dave Goldberg, who was SurveyMonkey’s CEO for six years, died unexpectedly while on exercising on vacation in Mexico in May.
Sheryl Sandberg, chief operating officer at Facebook has joined SurveyMonkey board. Since then she has published on Facebook a widely read post on her widowhood and on the necessity of moving forward during grief.
“I watched him and his team execute on their mission to help people make better decisions”, Sandberg said in a statement issued by SurveyMonkey. Its online services are used by businesses, universities, media, and other organizations to conduct polls and surveys on everything from economic data, employee morale and customer satisfaction. She declined a request for a separate interview.
SurveyMonkey is a private company, but expected to go public sometime soon-though a spokesperson told the Times there were no specific plans now in the works.
“We are thrilled to have Sheryl and David join our board”.
SurveyMonkey, a privately held company valued at $2 billion, also appointed to its board David Ebersman, the chief executive officer of behavioral health company Lyra Health and the ex- chief financial officer of Facebook. With the addition of Sandberg and Ebersman, SurveyMonkey has seven board members, including Lurie.
SurveyMonkey, which operates an online survey platform, also said Zander Lurie, its acting executive chairman, will take on the role on a permanent basis.
