YouTube Gaming streaming service launches tomorrow

Google has confirmed that YouTube Gaming will officially launch on the 26th of August.

There’s not much else to report at this stage, though we’ll be keeping an eye on how the launch pans out.

There are probably millions of gaming content on YouTube because they are hugely popular not just among professional gamers but also with kids and teens who simply want to watch gameplays.

Previous year Google reportedly tried to acquire live-streaming platform Twitch but eventually lost out to Amazon, as Ars Technica reports. There will also be a chat functionality where viewers can chat with streamers during the event, and for those wondering about quality, it seems that YouTube Gaming will stream at 60fps.

A lot of people were left wondering what exactly the service was when it was originally announced back in June.

Google’s inclination towards getting or designing a game-streaming platform of its own was pretty evident in its last year’s attempt to purchase Twitch.

You have a tab for a list of streams categorized by game, and by swiping to the left you can move to a tab for the main homepage listed as the “feed” where various streams will populate, and finally you have a tab all the way to the right for your channels that you subscribe to.

The service, which will be available in the form of an app as well as a website, will focus exclusively on gamers and gaming.

According to Google, the new live-streaming service makes it easier to broadcast gameplay video.

More than 25,000 games will each have their own page, which will be the place to find all videos and live streams about that title. The Android phone and tablet app launches tomorrow, too, in the US and UK with “other countries coming soon”.
