Michael Bennett: Only QBs Get Paid For Being Mediocre
Put an elite quarterback on any basement-dwelling team and they become instant contenders.
“Aaron Rodgers is probably the best quarterback in the NFL”, Bennett said on The Brock and Salk Show on 710-ESPN Radio.
“Quarterbacks get protected more than any other player. I guess that’s the value of the position“. Bennett was in no mood for Bradford’s complaints. Bennett is in search of a new contract extension from the Seattle Seahawks. While he ultimately elected to not hold out of training camp, there’s some definite friction regarding his salary. Also hear what Bennett thinks about the future for new defensive end Frank Clark, the Seahawks’ front seven, and who he credits for making him the player he is today.
His ability on the football field may only be surpassed by his ability to be highly quotable. We’ll chalk this inaccuracy up to the heat of the moment. The Dolphins plan to play Tannehill regardless. Bradford has missed most of the last two seasons because of ACL tears.
It is without a doubt the quarterback position brings the biggest impact to the overall outcome of the game.
Michael Bennett doesn’t care for your views about hits on quarterbacks.
Michael Bennett is never short of interesting things to say. Bennett’s projected earnings were estimated at just over $7 million in 2015.
Former OU quarterback Sam Bradford falls into both categories for Bennett, who is wrangling for a new contract. “I got kids. I got stuff I like to do on the weekend but because he gets hit in his legs, he’s looking for a flag”. “Every play somebody tries to hit me in my legs, so what makes (Bradford) different?” What makes his life better than mine?
“I love the kids”.
“He got hit in an NFL game!”
He also shot a pretty awesome, multi-layered zinger at Robert Griffin III: “The best way to not get hit is to complete a pass”. I mean, you got hit in an NFL game.
Since being selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, Bradford has struggled to remain healthy, missing a combined 32 games over the past five seasons.
When one of the hosts argued that Peyton Manning has been playing without feeling in his finger tips, Bennett replied, “JPP [Jason Pierre-Paul] just cut his off!” Yes Tom Brady, the same individual that pleaded for the controversial Tuck Rule a few years ago.
“I mean, he gets hit in his knees and he’s about to cry?” “Good hit, ‘” Bennett said.
“I’m like a wife that’s married to a guy, (and) they have kids”, he said. On Tuesday he clarified that he didn’t mean he was hunting down zone-read quarterbacks.
The problem with Bennett’s thought process is quarterbacks are lone soldiers left on an island in the pocket, while defenses work as units with everyone on the line trying to get to them.
