Sony combines TV remote with wireless speaker for Japan

They make entertainment easy as you can always turn the pressure off and the music on, by connecting one wireless speaker to your cellphone and have a great time listening to your favorite music and ignoring all the trouble outside. And maybe a bit uncomfortable. As well as having an instantly forgettable name, Sony has chose to produce a device that offers the unusual combination of portable speaker and TV remote control. Yes, it’s a TV remote fused to the top of a speaker, but there’s a good reason for that.

It is a rather freaky accessory. Why blast the TV so you can hear it from across the room when you can just bring the point-source of the sound closer? For $165 worth you have a great gadget and some added comfort.

Now Sony has jumped to another silly innovation.

As this should be obvious from the pictures, the company is focusing on the Japanese market with this device, as everything is written in Japanese.

It will be interesting to see how this “unique” product fares in the market.

Weighing in at almost one pound, according to The Verge, the device comes with a base station; connect it to your TV to transmit audio and recharge the remote.

Features include a headphone jack, large volume knob, auto power-off, drip resistance, minimal sound delay and 16-hours of battery life.

The dual 2W speaker SRS-LSR100 measures 179 x 28 x 71mm and weighs 440 grams.

The stated objective of his device is to be able to hear your television when you’re far away from it. I’m sympathetic to this idea, in a way.
