Call The Midwife’s Helen George joins Strictly Come Dancing line-up
Actor Helen George is the thirteenth celebrity to be confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2015.
Some of you may be familiar with George, as she does of course appear in hit BBC drama, Call the Midwife.
The news was revealed by BBC1 controller Charlotte Moore, at the Edinburgh TV festival, and Helen has shared her joy, stating: “I’m really excited to be joining “Strictly“.
Speaking about the news today, Jamelia said: “My girls are huge fans of Strictly, but when I told them I was doing it they laughed as they know that dancing is not my forte”. She has provided backing vocals on tour with Elton John and in prestigious venues such as The Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Arena while her film credits include Paul W S Anderson’s remake of The Three Musketeers, 7Lives and Scar Tissue.
She brings the total number of celebrity contestants announced to 13.
The series is set to kick off next month and the final two contestants will be announced on BBC One’s “The One Show” on Friday (27.08.15).
Well she’s certainly prepared – the actress tweeted a picture of her leg-warmers as rehearsals for the launch show on September 5 get underway.
Also preparing to get their dancing shoes on are The Wanted’s Jay McGuiness and “One Show” correspondent Anita Rani, boxer Anthony Ogogo, BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, ‘EastEnders’ actress Kellie Bright, singer Peter Andre, broadcaster Jeremy Vine and TV chef Ainsley Harriott.
