Giants’ Jason Pierre-Paul jokes about his missing finger
The Giants, short on impact pass-rushers, have not rescinded Pierre-Paul’s $14.813 million franchise tag, which he has not yet signed. He needed an additional hand.
In the days after the fireworks accident that cost Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul one of his fingers, there were plenty of jokes on Twitter and other social media made at Pierre-Paul’s expense. Pierre-Paul suffered the injury while setting off fireworks over the Fourth of July weekend and afterward, seemingly did everything his power to keep the Giants from assessing the damage to his hand and offering assistance.
Two minutes later, he added this: “My bad except lost a finger LOL”.
At last, his sense of humor is coming back. He had Tweeted and posted on Instagram several time in the seven weeks since, but hadn’t previously addressed the incident or his injuries directly.
“What happened to me was not a set back”, he wrote on his verified account.
There’s still no indication when Pierre-Paul might feel good enough about his physical recovery to join the Giants, who have been frustrated that he hasn’t allowed their doctors or trainers to examine him.
When called about his typo for using “accept” instead of “except”, Pierre-Paul jokingly blamed it on his missing finger. In those photos, JPP’s hand was heavily bandaged and his right arm was in a sling.
Pierre-Paul knows how he feels, physically and mentally, better than anyone else.
