NOPD: Man, toddler possibly shot in Seventh Ward
The man died later at the hospital.
This long-list of late night shootings come just as New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) Chief Michael Harrison has said that crime is actually down in the city of New Orleans.
An armed individual walked up behind the man around 8:15 p.m., police said, as he was entering his home in the 2600 block of St. Peter Street.
The third incident happened in Gert Town at about 7 p.m.at the corner of Fern and Olive streets, where a 19-year-old man was found fatally shot.
Two hours later, police got a call about another shooting, and they found a man who had been shot in the leg. Officials say that the two men opened fire on the man and child after an exchange of words.
Several of the survivors were reported to be in critical condition. The man shot in the Lafreniere incident is in critical condition in the hospital. Witnesses in the area told police they saw a dark-colored Ford F-150 pickup truck speeding from the scene. That victim, a male, was hospitalized in critical condition. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
