Turkish Airlines emergency landing: Flight lands at Delhi’s IGI airport after

An Istanbul-bound Turkish Airlines flight from Bangkok with 148 passengers onboard landed at the Indira Gandhi global Airport here under full emergency conditions due to a bomb scare. Not taking the threat lightly, the airline made a decision to make an emergency landing.

The aircraft has landed safely and is now been searched by police officers in a remote area of New Delhi’s airport.

Earlier, sources had said that the emergency landing was made after crew saw the message on a toilet mirror, written using a lipstick.

The security personnel were scanning all the baggage in the cargo hold as well as all pieces of cabin baggage carried by the passengers. “The ATC directed the pilot to approach the Delhi ATC”, sources said.

Aviation authorities said that no explosives were detected and that the questioning of 134 passengers travelling by the aircraft was over.

Turkish Airlines said in a statement that its flight was diverted following a possible bomb threat. “All the passengers have been offloaded”.

Fire tenders have been rushed to the runway. The SSG officials and the airport’s security officials will shortly meet up for an emergency meeting.

Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said the plane was still in the isolation bay and that routine checks were underway as of now.
