ASU football moves on following Bo Graham resignation
Hopefully, Martin will step right in and perform admirably as the new coach, and the Sun Devil running game will not miss a beat.
Arizona State head coach Todd Graham spoke to the media for the first time since his son Bo, the running backs coach, resigned on Monday.
Martin, whose father competed against Todd Graham in high school football in Texas, said he’s comfortable filling Bo Graham’s shoes.
For those wondering why Bo Graham resigned for Arizona State, Doug Gottlieb has reported that Graham got into a relationship with a former Arizona State athlete.
Graham was asked about the impact of losing his son on the coaching staff. He has also worked for Texas Tech University as an assistant coach. It is unclear whether Graham’s new opportunity is in coaching football or if he’s moved away from the sport altogether.
“We want the best for people”, he said.
With Bo Graham’s departure, graduate assistant Josh Martin was promoted to assistant coach. “I’m excited to be here… ready to roll”.
“Just like we tell our guys: If a guy gets hurt, it’s the next guy up, so we’ll be just fine”.
However Graham said these fresh legs need some time to season before they are ready to step into a starting role in such a complex system. “That’s obviously all I’m going to say about it. It’s a personal matter”. “It’s hard to take the fourth year and water it down to help somebody start so it becomes harder and harder to play in our system as a young player”.
