Kentucky clerk: Let people buy marriage licenses online
That problem that has faced several local officials in the aftermath of the court’s historic ruling, leading some to resign and others to stop issuing marriage licenses altogether.
In Tennessee, for example, the entire Decatur County Clerk’s Office resigned rather than follow the recent same-sex “marriage” mandate announced by the Supreme Court.
The Casey County attorney said he respected the county clerk – but he said Davis was wrong about this issue. “It’s for the glory of God”. Davis said lawmakers should pass a law allowing people to buy marriage licenses online, similar to the process of obtaining a hunting or fishing license. She and her two staff members, Sharon Bell and Mickey Butler, have all quit for the same reason.

The Family Foundation’s Kentucky chapter has established a legal defense fund for county clerks who refuse to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
Immediately following the Supreme Court ruling June 26, Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear ordered all clerks to fall in line.

The ACLU has filed a lawsuit against another objecting clerk, in Rowan County, Kentucky.
“I’m not about to go changing who I am or altering who I am or try to hide who I am in order to just win an election”, Towers said.
Lang posted a statement on the Hood County clerk’s website saying others in her office would issue the licenses but that “the religious doctrines to which I adhere compel me to personally refrain from issuing same-sex marriage licenses”. If a marriage involves minors, however, they must get their license in the county where they live.
And in Mississippi, a clerk resigned because issuing a same-sex marriage licence would violate her core values as a Christian.
He said the couples aren’t seeking the clerk’s endorsement of their marriage.
Hood County Attorney Lori Kaspar declined to provide details of her opinion to Lang but noted that Lang took her advice and the license was issued. His opinion was echoed by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who issued a directive Friday to state agencies to protect the religious liberties of all Texans.
