NOPD working on 7th Ward double shooting involving toddler
The two were shot around 5 p.m. Tuesday outside a residence in the 1700 block of Laharpe Street near Claiborne Avenue. Officials say that the two men opened fire on the man and child after an exchange of words.
Harrison said the 2-year-old boy was shot once in the leg, and his injury is not believed to be life threatening.
NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison vowed to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
“It was a most brazen act, but it’s a very cowardly act. And the message is we are going to pursue this subjects relentlessly”.
Later in the night in the Gert Town area of the city, four people were involved in a shooting. That victim, a male, was hospitalized in critical condition.
One man was shot multiple times in the 1400 block of Lafreniere Street about 6 p.m. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
On the West Bank in Harvey before 7:30 p.m., the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting in the 1100 block of Scotsdale Drive.
Several of the survivors were reported to be in critical condition.
Police haven’t named a suspect in any of these cases.
