Broncos release kicker Connor Barth
Barth, a Hoggard High School and UNC alum, made 15 of 16 field goals over the final five weeks last season, but he struggled with kickoffs this preseason.
Brandon McManus, who was excellent on kickoffs last season, has seemingly won the kicker job.
The Denver Broncos have certainly gone through some kickers in the past year or so. “We’d like that roster spot for something else”.
The Denver Broncos on Wednesday announced the team had released kicker Connor Barth. The Broncos hired Brandon McManus to replace Prater, but McManus went nine-for 13. He also has a strong leg, which means that he could be the team’s kickoff specialist. However, he will be on watch due to his inconsistency from last season.
To close out one drive, McManus pounded a 70-yard field goal through the uprights, a kick that cleared the crossbar with enough room that even the defense celebrated after the play.
Broncos Country wants to wish Connor Barth well in his NFL career and hope that it continues with solid success. The team must feel that McManus has improved as a kicker, because he was inconsistent past year, going 9-of-13 on field goal attempts.
The Broncos signed guard Evan Mathis on Tuesday and were forced to make a roster move to get down to 90 players.
