Woman Fatally Shot By Man With Shotgun In Hollywood
Authorities are seeking to discover why Los Angeles production assistant, Carrie Jean Melvin, 30 came to be execution style shot in the back off the head Sunday night.
The woman was walking with her boyfriend near Hollywood Boulevard and McCadden Place, when she was shot and killed.
Police are investigating the murder of a woman gunned down in a mystery attack as she walked along the street with her boyfriend. Melvin was pronounced dead at the scene. The gunman then fled in a black four-door sedan. No suspects had been arrested on Monday night and investigators are seeking information on the shooter, who police described as an African-American male in his 20s wearing a hood, according to KNBC-TV. Her boyfriend said no words were exchanged before the shooting.
LAPD homicide detective John Skaggs told the Los Angeles Times that police are still searching for a motive in the shooting, as it did not appear to be related to a robbery attempt. “On the one hand, she didn’t have any known enemies”. Melvin was shot not far from where she lived.
Ms Melvin was a UC Santa Cruz film graduate who had worked as a bartender as she pursued her dream of making it in the entertainment industry.
Melvin’s LinkedIn says she worked as a production assistant for Frederic Golchan Productions from August 2013 to August 2015.
Melvin also tended bar at Haven Gastropub Brewery in Pasadena and Steingarten in West L.A.
Preciado says detectives are looking for possible surveillance camera footage.
