Oscar parole review date in three weeks

“Fastest Man on No Legs” and Paralympian Oscar Pistorius is now speculated to be a victim of a political interference after his supposed release on Friday was altered by South Africa’s Justice and Correctional Services Minister, Michael Masutha, just three days before he was bound for discharge.

It was the first time Steenkamp’s parents have spoken out against the court’s verdict.

The double-amputee sprinter, 28, was sentence in October to five years in prison for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day 2013.

While Steenkamp’s family has expressed their extreme aversion towards the alleged perpetrator to their daughter’s death, Reeva’s father, Barry Steenkamp would rather leave it to the justice system to determine Pistorius’ guilt, as per Daily Mail and The Guardian.

He was found guilty of culpable homicide, after saying during the trial that he shot her through a locked bathroom door because he mistook her for an intruder.

The decision has been returned to the parole board for reconsideration, which could take up to four months.

His potential release has caused fury in the African nation – particularly after prosecutors last week filed an appeal for the verdict to be changed to murder. They argue Pistorius must have known when he fired that the person behind the door could be killed, even if he did not know it was Steenkamp.

The newspaper reported Mentoor said officials had “also conceded to Pistorius’s demands that new equipment be installed in the prison gym”, and “revealed how Pistorius was given permission to prepare his own food – because the athlete was paranoid about being poisoned”. The appeal hearing is due to start in November.
