New Tesla Model S Long Distance Record Is 452.8 Miles
This is exactly what happened here: the massive instant torque developed by the 700 hp Model S P85D was very useful in the beginning, but after a few seconds the M4 will make better use of the power at hand and pull away into the sunset.
That this electric auto accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds without an engine’s roar makes it frighteningly eerie in its silent velocity.
The Tesla Model S P85D comes with an 85-kWh battery pack which is the largest that Tesla offers on their model S at the moment. The vehicle set a new benchmark, so we had to make changes to our scoring to account for it.
The Tesla initially scored 103 in the Consumer Reports’ Ratings system, which by definition doesn’t go past 100.
Slash Gear adds that the drive has been really slow that both friends have decided to put a “Test Slow” sign on the vehicle to avoid any incriminating glances from motorists and passersby. It was also the most expensive, said Jake Fisher, head of auto testing for Consumer Reports.
Especially given its price, the materials in the Tesla were not as nice as those in other six-figure cars. “That said”, concludes the magazine, “the Tesla Model S P85D is an automotive milepost”. It was also louder and didn’t ride as nicely.
This week, a Danish man showed that the same is true of electric cars: they’re generally rated to travel a certain number of miles in between charges, but that number can be extended with a little planning and driving technique. The Model S precedes additional electric cars coming from Tesla Motors.

This isn’t the first time the Model S has defied ordinary measures. He’s just a loyal fan who likes to set a new challenge for himself and his auto. During roof crush tests, the roof-crushing machine broke before the car’s roof did, according to the automaker.
