Mr. Robot’ finale yanked after shooting
The “Mr. Robot” Season 1 finale episode will air at 10 p.m. Wednesday, September 2.
“Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this hard time”, “Mr. Robot” and USA Network concluded in the statement.
The move, suffice it to say, is highly unusual though hardly unprecedented. USA declined further comment.
An encore of the penultimate episode of Mr. Robot will air in lieu of the finale tonight.
USA said late Wednesday that an unfortunate, unforeseeable coincidence prohibited it from airing the episode so soon after the shocking murder of two members of the WDBJ-7 news crew. The two victims were Alison Parker and Adam Ward, who worked for news station WDBJ in Moneta. The entire incident was out on social media after the gunman posted the videos of the attack on Twitter and Facebook.
The critically acclaimed series “Mr. Robot” is about to end its initial season. Rami Malek and Christian Slater star. He is drafted to work for an underground group of hackers called “fsociety” but twists later on in the show reveal that all is not as the viewer, or even the main character Eliot, perceives it. Following an incredibly positive response, the series has been renewed for a second season and is expected to premiere in 2016.
Suspect in the Virginia shooting has reportedly been killed for what could be self-inflicted wounds. No delay with the local broadcast of the show has been announced.
Variety also cited that in the past, TV shows have also been delayed or removed due to unusual similarities to recent real-life events.
