Tracy Morgan returns to ‘Saturday Night Live’
Morgan is set to host the show on October. 17, as the sketch-comedy franchise returns for its 41st season.
Last month, the 46 year old gave an emotional account of the harrowing experience on NBC’s “Today” show to Matt Lauer, wondering at one point whether he was ever going to “be amusing again”.
Saturday Night Live has confirmed the first three guests of its upcoming season: Miley Cyrus, Amy Schumer and Tracy Morgan.
“I love comedy. I’ll never stop loving her. I love comedy and I can’t wait to get back to her. But right now my goal is just to heal and get better”.
Of course, the announcement that Morgan has signed on to host SNL is a positive sign that his recovery is going well.
The hosting gig will also mark Tracy Morgan’s return to television after a horrific auto accident last summer that claimed the life of comedian Jimmy Mack, and put Tracy Morgan in critical condition. “I promise you”, he said. “There are times where I have my good days and my bad days, where I forgot things, you know”, he admitted.
Having suffered extensive physical and neurological injuries from the crash, Morgan sued Walmart and received an undisclosed settlement in May.
Morgan said he was delighted to be returning to the show.
The former “Saturday Night Live” is making a comeback in the third episode after the “Wrecking Ball” singer and the “Inside Amy Schumer” star helm the first and second episodes respectively.
Cyrus will undoubtedly come in like a wrecking ball when she hosts the season premiere on October 3.
