Victor Dubuisson, who this time past year was preparing for his Ryder Cup debut – and what a star he was! – is clear favorite, but there is a suspicion that this season has been a bit of an anti-climax and he has not moved his game on. He has three wins, including the PGA Championship, after totaling two wins since the start of his first full season on the Tour in 2008.

A victor at The Barclays in 2013, the Queenslander still has designs on going all the way to claim the FedEx Cup and the US$10 million ($15.3 million) bonus.

His record at the Barclays is less than stellar with two missed cuts and a best of T33 in 2013 but he has never played the tournament at this week’s venue so comes into the week with no negative thoughts from prior performance.

Jon Curran has not had the best season on the PGA Tour. Day and Spieth are the only golfers to win more than twice on the PGA Tour this season.

Curran climbed as high as 81st in the standings after he tied for 10th at the Travelers Championship in late June.

“It’s a great opportunity and it’s a great challenge for me to not worry about the result and just worry about the process of what I’m doing, knowing that it is the right steps to get me where I want to go”.

The attractive thing about the next couple of weeks is that any of the 125 golfers can come away with the FedEx Cup. Molinari, whose wife just had a baby, is No. 99 and so his season is over.

The Barclays begins Thursday morning at Plainfield Country Club, with 120 players battling for FedEx Cup points and the right to keep playing next week at the Deutsche Bank Championship.

The change in the points system this year meant a little less volatility.

The only FedEx Cup champion who also won at The Barclays was Vijay Singh in 2008. He faced the end of his season, and that’s what is on the line for 25 players this week.

“I just feel like [there’s an] advantage”, Love said.
