LG Expands OLED Line with New, Flat 4K TVs
On August 27, Samsung announced that it will showcase a shopping space for the future to give an opportunity to experience smart shopping during this year’s IFA, using futuristic signage solutions, including transparent OLEDs, LED digital signage, smart signage TVs, and outdoor signage.
Nonetheless, the two new TVs won’t be any cheaper than their curved counterparts and anybody who has seen what OLED has always cost shouldn’t have had much reason to expect greater affordability. By closing or ignoring this message, you are consenting to our use of cookies.
LG is continuing to develop its OLED technology, and is doubling the number of OLED TV models it offers.
The HDR capabilities of the TVs cover video from external devices as well as streamed sources via HDR-compatible HDMI ports. The upcoming EF9500 series will feature flat-screen designs and high dynamic range support. LG’s flat versions of its curved OLED TVs include the 55 inch 55EF95000 and the 65 inch 65EF9500. The company is also still shipping the EG9600 and EG9700 series of Curved OLED 4K TVs in sizes ranging from 55 to 77 inches, as well the non-4K 55-inch EC9300 Full HD Curved OLED TV. Other features include Launch Bar menus to find favorite content and a lengthy lineup of streaming services, including 4K options from Amazon Instant Video, Netflix, and YouTube.
As we wait for the IFA 2015 show to kick off in Berlin on the 6th September, news has emerged that LG will be demonstrating another milestone in TV technology that is pretty acronym-tastic.
According to LG, the devices are now available at “more mainstream price points”.
“OLED TV is not just a new TV – it’s an entirely new category of television that delivers what experts and consumers alike are hailing as the best picture ever”, said William Cho, President and CEO, LG Electronics USA. “What’s more, LG’s HDR-capable OLED TVs allow consumers to view HDR content from both streaming content partners as well as external sources”.
