Amazon’s Prime Now’s Delivery Service Available in Seattle, Offers Liquor Delivery
After Amazon decided to launch its Prime Now services in Seattle recently, the e-commerce giant enabled its fast-paced delivery services to users, allowing them to shop from home and receive a range of items within one hour.
While already available in select areas of cities including New York, Portland, Miami, Atlanta and Chicago, Amazon Prime customers in Seattle will be the first in the U.S.to have the option of ordering alcohol through the service’s mobile app. “With Prime Now, you can skip a trip to the store and get the items you need delivered right to your door in under an hour”, said Stephenie Landry, director of Amazon’s Prime Now service in the announcement. However, the company has not yet disclosed names of any of the potential businesses which will sign up with Amazon if the experiment pulls through positively.
Amazon is leveraging its Prime Now program in its hometown of Seattle to experiment with restaurant delivery, GeekWire reports.
Londoners can already use the Prime Now service and there are plans to expand the scheme across the UK by the end of the year.
Prime Now aims to to deliver its members their desired order with an hour of placing it, and for the first time ever they’ve included beer, wine, and hard liquor to the list.
Amazon has offered restaurant takeout delivery in the past, but until now has mostly used third-party services itself to cycle or drive food to customers.
