Wolfsburg confirm Kevin De Bruyne exit

Another highly-talked about summer transfer seems to have finally concluded, as German news outlet Bild are reporting that Manchester City have agreed to sign Kevin De Bruyne from Wolfsburg for a fee of at least €80m.

However, after Wolfsburg hammered FC Schalke 3-0 in the Bundesliga last night, the club’s director of sport Klaus Allofs confirmed the deal is imminent.

Pedro only cost a small percentage of what De Bruyne is likely to cost Man City if reports this morning are true, and Merson believes Chelsea have clearly got the better of the two deals.

“He’s had an astonishing, astonishing offer from City and we can’t compete with that”, said Allofs.

De Bruyne, 24, would like his move tied up before he jets off on worldwide duty next week. “It could be that we reach an agreement today or tomorrow”, Allofs told Sky before kick-off.

“One thing is for sure, the last team in the Premier League get more money than [Bundesliga champions] Bayern Munich“.

A talented, quick attacker with potential, De Bruyne will be the club’s third big-name signing of the summer after Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Otamendi.

The Belgian joined Wolfsburg from Chelsea in January previous year and has scored 20 goals and provided 37 assists in 73 appearances across all competitions for the club.

The Chilean also appeared unimpressed when asked what he thought of Thursday’s Champions League draw that saw City pitted against Juventus, Sevilla and Borussia Monchengladbach.

“If you have a player knocking on your door and crying every day he wants to leave, you have to make a decision”, he said. The Portuguese worldwide, who spent much of the last season playing at right-back, was a constant threat in his more familiar position on the right-hand side of midfield and had a big say in the opening goal.
