Anne Hathaway in “Interstellar”
All of a sudden the fate of humanity rests in the hands of Anne Hathaway.
Actress Anne Hathaway is expanding her production resume by developing and starring in a new sci-fi comedy.
The movie’s plot sees men turned into bloodthirsty aliens following a series of meteor showers, which means women have to try to save the world.
With Hathaway at the helm, the women must save themselves and the planet.
The female-centric sci-fi comedy comes from a script written by Jac Schaeffer and sat on last year’s Blacklist as one of the industry’s best unproduced screenplays. Since then, it’s been performed and live-read by several recognizable names, but Hathaway will finally bring it to the big screen, both as a producer and a star.
Lauren is the head of Andrew Lauren Productions with Gugenheim, the company’s production president.
Though not usually the kind of film Hathaway associates herself with, especially as she has Nancy Meyers’ 9-to-5 comedy The Intern on the docket next for a September 25 release, it’s part of her genre-expanding evolution. The Academy Award-winning actress was already set to star in the Godzilla meets Lost in Translation monster movie Colossal.
Schaeffer wrote and directed her debut film, TiMER, which premiered at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival. Schaeffer is repped by Verve and Writ Large.
