Cyrus caused much ballyhoo following her raunchy 2013 performance with Robin Thicke, in which she twerked to her hit song “We Can’t Stop” and gestured provocatively with a giant foam finger. “Previous year there wasn’t even a host, so there was no energy”. Asked about her plans, Cyrus says, “I didn’t want this VMAs to be like they’ve been in the past”. How do you think she will do? Thunder rumbled throughout as Spears performed and there was even a tiger on stage.
Meanwhile, Beyonce is up for five awards, including Video of the Year, Female Video and Best Pop Video for “7/11”. Though a seemingly innocent beginning, with two cute flower girls throwing petals on the stage, nothing could prepare the world for what was to come. Working with Miley and Rihanna and Katy (Perry) and Madonna and Iggy and all these great ladies that I’ve been dressing and creating iconic moments with. The three performed “Hollywood” before Spears and Madonna shared that scandalizing kiss.
Thanks to social media, music videos are thriving and the VMAs have a bigger audience than ever. Compared to her past, this one was a definite crash and burn. One man admitted he was not a fan of Cyrus’ “style and her dad”. The singer initially claimed she was hosting the show because MTV wouldn’t let her perform.
Kanye West will also be in the house to accept this year’s Video Vanguard Award. The show has included moving tributes to Michael Jackson, Princess Diana and Aaliyah.
The 2015 MTV VMAs takes place in Los Angeles on Sunday (August 30).
First off, we know that Miley Cyrus is going to be hosting and we are beyond excited for that. If reports are to be believed, this video is set to be released immediately after the VMAs.
