SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Facebook Inc announced plans on Tuesday to build a new data center in Fort Worth, Texas, its fourth in the United States and fifth overall.
“This academic collaboration represents the first step in the establishment of a premier MD school and is one of the most ambitious our university has undertaken to date”, said TCU Chancellor Victor J.
The Legislature hasn’t signed off on the school, yet.
Disclosure: The University of North Texas is a corporate sponsor of The Texas Tribune. The two schools already partner on some programs, such as nutrition.
In addition, students in TCU’s Neeley School of Business and UNTHSC’s School of Public Health now collaborate as part of UNTHSC’s master’s program in health administration. Classes are set to take place at both UNTHSC and TCU, with the help of existing faculty and some new hires.
It would be the second medical school in DFW to offer a M.D. degree. The first class of 60 students is expected to enroll in the fall of 2018.
Currently, UNTHSC houses a college that awards doctorates in osteopathic medicine. Their curriculum will focus on the treatment of diseases and ailments. “In fact, our goal is to have synergistic growth that will bring new opportunities for all of our programs, especially the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine”.
