Samsung Responds To S-Pen Issue On The Galaxy Note 5
Or is the burden on you, the user, to keep track of which way your S Pen is being inserted? And, yeah, that’s a pretty easy solution, but what if a young child mistakenly puts it in backwards, or you mistakenly slide it in the wrong way after writing down a number? However, that’s exactly what happened with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5.
“I’ve been testing the Note 5 and after reading about the hubbub, I inserted the S-Pen backward”, Dignan wrote. The S-Pen stylus featured in the new Galaxy Note 5 is even more advanced than its predecessor, according to Samsung, and allows users to interact with the device in new ways.
The Galaxy Note 5 handset’s design flaw – which can potentially cause permanent damage to the device – is rooted in its S Pen stylus.
However, since the problem has been spoken, users of the new Galaxy Note 5 should be considered notified and of course, pay close attention when the S Pen inserted in place.
Many people that will be trying to test the stylus out for the first time will be disappointed, said reports.
On previous Galaxy Note smartphones, it was impossible to store the S Pen in the wrong direction, as the tapered shape meant that it wouldn’t fit.
But Android Police has found that it is incredibly easy to insert the S Pen backwards into its slot, causing irreparable damage.
But since no one reads instructional manuals, it’s taken real-life user error to bring the matter to light. Aside from the sensor inside getting damaged, the motherboard could also be affected if the pen gets stuck and is removed forcefully. After all, it has a gorgeous, premium build and a high-end price tag – and yet Samsung has seemingly made a quite serious mistake that could result in users permanently damaging their handsets.
When Ars Technica tried to replicate the Android Police experiment, it was eventually able to remove the S Pen and restore its functionality.
