ThaiVisa News: Clinton says she opposes boycott effort against Israel
Hillary Rodham Clinton says in a letter to American Jewish organizations that she opposes a grassroots protest movement promoting boycotts, divestment and sanctions against Israel over policies involving the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories.
“As you know, BDS seeks to punish Israel and dictate how the Israelis and Palestinians should resolve the core issues of their conflict. This is not the path to peace”.
Clinton, a former secretary of state, pledged “I will be speaking out publicly on this in the weeks ahead, so I am eager to hear your perspective and advice”. She writes that she supported Israel after the Goldstone Report.
“I think they were told by the Palestinians, and certainly by Israel, that they’re not interested in it”, he said.
“This is a welcome statement, although Clinton is wrong about the BDS movement’s real goal”.
JERUSALEM (EJP)–A top American Jewish leader said France may reconsider its plan to submit a resolution to the United Nations Security Council that would recognize a Palestinian state and lay out parameters and a timeframe for peace talks.
“This year’s rallies to mark the worldwide Quds Day due to be held this Friday are more important than the previous years’ because the Zionist regime (of Israel) with the full support of ISIL terrorists… is seeking to realize the occupation of (areas from) the Nile to the Euphrates”, General Dehqan said in a speech on Monday.
Many, including ex- President Jimmy Carter, have gone so far as to compare Israel’s policy to apartheid-era South Africa, something Clinton also called out in her letter.
“After all, it was only six months ago that four Jews were targeted and killed in a Kosher supermarket in Paris as they did their Sabbath shopping”, Clinton concluded the letter. Saban just staged a conference in Las Vegas with Sheldon Adelson, the big Republican giver, to come up with ideas to counter BDS. She promised to them that Israel-US relations, which have deteriorated under the leaderships of Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Barack Obama, will improve, saying that the personal relationship between the two countries was of utmost importance within the wider field of diplomacy.
