Evian Christ “Put in a Cage” by Security at Leeds Festival

Well, unless you’re England’s Leeds Festival, in which case, you’ll mistake a rising DJ and producer for a gatecrasher and lock him in a cage.

Evian Christ – aka Joshua Leary – has performed with top acts like Kanye West, yet that didn’t stop guards at the Leeds VIP area detaining him after raising their suspicions.

The festival chief says, “Evian was found in a not very good state in the woods, without being able or willing to disclose who he was”.

Festival Republic, the organisers of Reading and Leeds festivals, have yet to comment on Christ’s unjust imprisonment, but no doubt there’s a security guard somewhere in the Reading festival grounds who’s about to get a stern talking to.

Though his Tweet read that he was cancelling his appearance at Reading festival, which runs simultaneously with Leeds, there has been no official word from his team as of late.

It’s unclear how long the Ellesmere Port-based DJ and producer was held, but he tweeted a short video from inside a Leeds Festival holding pen, following his afternoon DJ set on the BBC Radio One Dance Stage.

He was plucked from relative obscurity by Kanye when he was asked to help produce the track Yeezus track.
