Street Fighter 5’s first beta is online versus only • Eurogamer.net
Since this beta is being done to stress test the servers, there will be no local versus play. It’ll run for five days and be exclusively available for PS4 owners.
The beta kicks off on July 23 in North America at 6pm PT / 11pm ET and on July 24 at 2am GMT in Europe.
A new post has appeared on the Playstation blog dishing out details on the upcoming beta for Street Fighter V. The post gives new details on Characters, Stages, and Gameplay Flow and there are a few items that stick out.
Four of those fighters will be available immediately, with Cammy and Birdie joining on July 25. Capcom said: “The reason for their delayed release is that in addition to testing out the net code, we’re also testing out our new content delivery system”. Players should choose the character they would like to fight others with, as they will not be able to select a different character before heading into battle. While the players wait for their match they will train in the Grid. Once again, the primary objective of this beta is to test the online functionality. After the match, you’ll be sent to the training room and put into another queue for the next match.
The beta will have three stages, and matches will occur randomly in Bustling Side Street (China), Terminal Station (London), and in the new Forgotten Waterfall stage.
In the USA and Canada, you can receive access to the beta by pre-ordering the game at GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy, or through the PlayStation Store.
Beta redemption keys will be e-mailed from the retailer you pre-ordered at starting on 7/20 (Pacific time).
In Asia and Japan, users need to download the “Street Fighter V Closed Beta Test Ticket” from PSN this week for a chance to play the beta.
Once you get your key, you can punch it into the PSN to download the SFV beta client and get ready for when the beta officially opens on July 23.
