Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes pulls out of Besiktas move
Victor Valdes is set to end his brief stay at Manchester United with a free transfer move to Besiktas.
Talks have been ongoing since last week with a deal close to agreement and the Manchester United goalkeeper poised to fly to Turkey on Sunday. However, given Valdes has fallen out with Van Gaal and De Gea is now being courted by Real Madrid, neither player has featured as a part of a competitive team for United so far this term.
Having only joined United in January, Valdes’s summer of discontent began when he was axed from the club’s pre-season tour of the US. There he won multiple Champions Leagues, La Ligas and a huge amount of other trophies. The Spanish worldwide was the man between the sticks as Pep Guardiola’s iconic Barcelona team swept all before them, and as such, the ex-Blaugrana star was expected to challenge David De Gea for the No. 1 jersey at Old Trafford. Anders Lindegaard was previously linked with Besiktas and could leave United to see the Reds have just two goalkeepers available.
Valdes was excommunicated from the club after Louis van Gaal accused Valdes of refusing to play for the Under-21 side, a claim which Valdes denied on social media.
