Manchester United transfer news: £20.3million Julian Draxler deal eyed as

 Manchester United are targeting a move for Schalke forward Julian Draxler as an alternative to Thomas Muller, according to reports.

With Kevin de Bruyne’s massive deal to Manchester City confirmed, Wolfsburg has little time to use the money this transfer window.

Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt had said after Friday’s 3-0 defeat at Wolfsburg that his club would be drawing a line under the matter if there were no developments by the end of Saturday.

Marotta admits a deal for Draxler has stalled.

Wolfsburg were prepared to beat the offer made by Juve although Schalke are not keen on strengthening a Bundesliga rival.

“Both Julian and [boss Andre Breitenreiter] were more surprised than anyone to hear these reports”, Heldt is quoted as saying by Daily Star. “Julian strongly denied that he said anything of the sort or anything that could be interpreted that way”.

“As for Andre and the handshake, it was a very normal gesture after a substitution”.

The Gunners are thought to be interested in the Schalke winger, who could now be available for as little as £21million.

“All documents concerning a transfer must be submitted by Monday 6pm”.
