Part of Newark Airport Evacuated
A security scare at Newark Liberty global Airport caused some commotion Sunday.
Members of Customs and Border Patrol agents confronted him and he was immediately taken into police custody, Port Authority Police spokesperson Joe Pentangelo said, according to the Associated Press.
He says the man entered the secure hallway at through an exit door at the airport’s “C” terminal.
A man who said he was a flight passenger posted a photo Sunday night showing a man lying on the floor, while another man, who is in a black uniform, points his gun at him. About five minutes later, authorities began to evacuate the area, he said.
Hundreds of passengers were inconvenienced when Andrei Kuzmine, 43, made his way through the Terminal 3 checkpoint at around 7 p.m., the sources said.
He was turned over to authority police and the terminal finger was evacuated so that canines could conduct a sweep, he said. By 8:30 p.m., the terminal was back open, the report said.
