Immigration without integration is ‘invasion’: Bobby Jindal
GOP presidential hopeful and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal suggested on Sunday that to stem illegal immigration, the solution is not to pursue stronger border security but rather to force immigrants to “adopt our values”. “They wanted to raise their children as Americans”, Jindal said.
“We need not go down the trail of Europe”, which is dealing with “big issues” with second- and third-generation immigrants who do not feel part of their societies, Jindal informed “Face the Nation”. “One of the things Donald Trump has tapped into, and other candidates have tapped into, is the frustration the American people have against this permanent political elite who think the rules don’t apply to them. What values don’t immigrants have that you believe Americans have?” she asked Jindal.
“I think after we get past this summer of silliness and insults, the voters are going to begin to look at who is prepared to do the job”, said Jindal. We need to insist upon assimilation.
“When it comes to immigration policy, what I’ve experienced and seen is that a smart immigration policy makes our country stronger; a dumb one makes us weaker”. We’re not African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Indian-Americans, rich or poor Americans. Every single day they are grateful to live in the greatest country in the history of the world.
The two-term governor repeatedly dodged questions about Trump’s recent accusation that longtime Clinton aide, Huma Abedin, is likely sharing classified intel with her husband, disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner, instead telling Raddatz, “I think I’m going to be the nominee”. We’re all Americans. “The reason this is so important, immigration without integration is not immigration, it’s invasion”. “The story of the New Orleans and Louisiana comeback is proof once again that the American people can do anything they put their minds to”. “That’s just common sense”, he added.
