They were taken to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, Clinton Township, where doctors pronounced the 44-year-old man dead, police said.
– Police have arrested a 20-year-old man they say stabbed several people at a home in Sterling Heights Monday morning. A 44 year-old man and 71-year-old old woman also had suffered significant stab wounds.
Officers responded around 12:30 a.m.to the 39000 block of Lea after receiving a 911 call from a grandmother, who said her grandson was out of control and assaulting people in the home, according to Lt. David Smith.
As the woman spoke to a police dispatcher, commotion could be heard in the background.
He had been living with his grandparents for two weeks and had come to Michigan from North Carolina. Police said the 44-year-old died at the hospital and the 71-year-old woman is listed in critical condition.
All subjects lived together in the home.
“The uncle tried to help out here”, Smith said. The attacked were identified as his grandmother, grandfather and uncle.
“The suspect was cooperative with officers at the scene and we believe him to be the only one responsible for the victims’ injuries”, Smith said.
Police said they could not determine a motive yet, though Smith said the suspect is talking to police. He had no prior criminal history. “Probably some mental instability here, of course”.
“I mourn with the family and pray they can find peace”, the tweet said.
Authorities have declined to release the names of the victims or the identity of the suspect pending his arraignment in court.
