Elektra cast for season 2 of Daredevil

Jennifer Garner played Elektra in the 2005 spinoff of 2003’s Daredevil film, opposite her now-estranged husband Ben Affleck as the masked hero.

After months of rumors, Marvel and Netflix have officially confirmed that Marvel superheroine Elektra will appear in Daredevil’s season two. Yung, who is half Cambodian and half French, has a black belt in karate and may be familiar to fans of the parkour sequel film District 13: Ultimatum.

The first season of Daredevil broadly hinted that Elektra would be a part of Matt Murdock’s future.

Interestingly, Yung is no stranger to playing martial arts-trained warrior weilding sai and wearing red; the actress played Jinx in 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Yes, that movie is of questionable quality, but Yung showed she has the moves of a ninja.

“After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the flawless actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity”, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb said in a statement.

If you’ve seen the first season of Daredevil, then you may have noticed Matt Murdock talking about a particular Greek girl he met to Foggie.

Filming is already underway in New York for “Daredevil” season 2 with a 2016 debut date expected on Netflix. The show just started shooting this week as images from the East Harlem set of Matt and Foggy together leaked on Twitter from Shelly Kay Photography.

Elektra is the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
