GoPro unveils Hero4 Session, its smallest camera yet
Meet the Hero4 Session, it’s the smallest action camera yet from GoPro and one that brings one of the biggest changes we’ve seen yet from the company. The 1.5-inch cube weighs just 2.6 oz, making it 50 percent smaller and 40 percent lighter than the Hero4 Silver. The Hero4 Session can record 1080p60, 720p100 and 1440p30 video and 8-megapixel photos.
Hero4 Black SuperView Protune and Auto Low Light recording modes have been imported into the Session, as well as the Single and Burst photo modes.
This new camera is obviously compatible with all GoPro accessories and will retail for US$399 (RM1,530).
To take advantage of the small size, GoPro has developed a new line of mounts, including the Low-Profile Frame that offers a wide range of adjustment, and locates the camera very close to the surface its fixed to. To turn the camera off, you simply press the button when you’re finished. Another press of the shutter button will save the video, or photo content, and power the camera off. This device might also come packed with a dual microphone implementation which will be able to catch even the most intensified audio (for example during water activities). With built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, you can adjust the settings and have greater control over the camera using the GoPro App or optional Smart Remote.
GoPro, based in San Mateo, California, in May said it plans to introduce a drone and a device for capturing 360 degree videos for use in virtual-reality applications.
Perhaps best of all, adventure-seekers won’t need those clear plastic housings as the camera is waterproof down to 33 feet out of the box. GoPro is putting battery life at two hours for 1080p video at 30 fps.
Fundamentally speaking, you won’t get a high-end shooter with the GoPro Hero4 Session. “The full list (there are many more variations) is not as exhaustive as the Hero4 Silver or Black, but all the most used slow-motion and 4:3 perspectives (good for point-of-view shots) are there”.
