Chelsea to make final push for midfield target
Eden Hazard is at the moment, Chelsea’s highest paid player and makes £250,000-a-week before tax, but Jose Mourinho’s side will now have to shell more money as they seem desperate to complete a move for the Frenchman.
The Independent, is among various outlets, reporting that Chelsea believe they can persuade Juventus to part with French midfield star Paul Pogba with an offer of £70 million.
Reports in the British media this week have claimed that Pogba would demand wages of up to £318,000 a week to move to the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Pogba has made more than 100 appearances for Juventus since arriving at the club on a free transfer from Manchester United in 2012, a move which might be regarded as one of the savviest pieces of business in modern times.
Since then, however, the former Red Devil has shot to prominence with some superb performances in the Italian top flight and the Champions League, winning three titles and guiding Juve to the European Cup final last season. Mourinho said: “He is a Juventus player”. We are not panicking because the transfer window closes in a couple of days. Tottenham may have to offer in excess of £25m to get the deal done, but Pulis’ decision to drop the 22-year-old forward from the team suggests he may be happy enough to let him go. If not, we don’t.
He added: “I have a good squad”.
The Blues are prepared to up their bid for the former Manchester United player to £69m to help combat their disappointing start to the Premier League season. Use the links below to download and get more from Indy Football…
