Adebayor willing to join Man United, Van Gaal offered the chance to
Manchester United have been offered the transfer of Emmanuel Adebayor, according to the Daily Mail.
Emmanuel Adebayor’s unwillingness to move to the Midlands hampered his proposed move to Aston Villa (via the Daily Mirror) and a move to West Ham has also been mooted (via ESPN) but a move to Man United could prove most tempting to the former Arsenal and Man City man. However, one wonders if such a move would significantly improve upon on those options van Gaal now calls upon.
Some people have been taken aback by Manchester United’s £36m approach for Anthony Martial, but now it’s all starting to make sense.
It’s simple, really – Louis van Gaal doesn’t like strikers unless they’ve played up front for Monaco.
United have struggled for Premier League goals at the start of the season and with time running out, the Togo striker believes the Old Trafford club could be interested in his services.
Adebayor’s preference is to stay in London; but he is willing to uproot from the capital for a switch to United.
Meanwhile, Adebayor’s reported reluctance to jump at joining Slaven Bilic’s side has meant West Ham have widened their search for a forward.
Adebayor has been told by manager Mauricio Pochettino he can leave as the striker’s totally out of his plans for the new campaign, having not featured so far in the league this season, as per the report.
Adebayor’s wages represent a sizeable chunk of the Tottenham payroll, certainly an outsized portion when you consider that Spurs aren’t even using him in the first team at present.
