After leading a workshop or talking circle, Burnham keeps in contact with the people she meets.
She also appears as a character in the TV drama series, Blackstone, about an aboriginal community in Canada which airs on the Aboriginal network APTN in Canada, CBC, the Canadian public broadcaster, Showcase, and Maori Television in New Zealand.
“No matter what your background is or what you’ve been through in your life you can push yourself to reach the success that you dream of”, she said. She said that while she got a lot of support, she was also the target of racist comments. She wore a custom-made jingle dress during the pageant’s Parade of Nations and said her European audience was intrigued by the outfit.
“I think having her as an advocate will definitely bring it to the forefront”, she said.
