Amazon and Netflix pass on saving Hannibal — News Hannibal
Sorry, Fannibals. Neither Amazon nor Netflix will be bringing “Hannibal” back from cancelation.
Amazon and Netflix might not be up for taking on Hannibal, but there are still other options for the series. We are still holding out hope especially for the latter, mostly because they seemed to enjoy having “Community” as a part of their family and this has a similar devoted following. Hannibal is based on the novel, Red Dragon, written by Thomas Harris. Hugh Dancy stars as FBI serial killer profiler Will Graham, and Laurence Fishburne appears as Jack Crawford, the agent-in-charge of the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit in Quantico, Virginia.
After the shocking events of the season finale, Hannibal season three has found Lecter on the run in Europe – accompanied by his psychiatrist Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson, “The X-Files”) – sporting a new identity, but servicing the same insatiable appetite. If a new network picks up the show, Fuller’s availability is a big question.
Fuller has previously stated that he already has Season 4 mapped out, and indicated that a fifth season would take Hannibal into Silence of the Lambs territory with the introduction of Clarice Starling. The show, however, earned critical acclaim and severan nominations from Critics’ Choice Television Awards and Saturn Awards.
Nathan Lawrence is a freelance writer from Sydney who knows that Hannibal is eating people, but would still like to dine with him. Executive producer Bryan Fuller announced on Twitter that the streaming service had passed on picking up the cancelled NBC drama. Where do you all think Hannibal could find a home?
