Three Soldiers Killed in Pakistan Blast
North Waziristan: at least twelve militants were killed and several others injured on Sunday in an exchange of fire with security forces in Datta Khel of North Waziristan, ISPR reported. The heavily forested ravines in the area are dotted with Taleban hideouts and the area is a key smuggling route into neighbouring Afghanistan. Fleeing terrorists also left behind three of their dead. According to the ISPR, the clash took place on Saturday night in an uncleared pocket along the North Waziristan-Afghan border. He claimed that nine soldiers were killed in the attack.
General Raheel said that security forces will achieve the goal of terror-free Pakistan. Four soldiers were killed and five others injured when their vehicle ran over an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Dattakhel area of North Waziristan near the Afghan border.
In the North Waziristan region of Pakistan, Pakistani soldiers clashed with Taliban militants on Sunday.
The Pakistani military spokesman said “intelligence-based” operations had cut off the Pakistani Taliban faction headquartered in Shawal from its cells in Pakistani cities.
They said Mahsud had expected to gain leverage in negotiations with the Pakistani authorities, conducted a year ago through tribal intermediaries; instead, he was handed an ultimatum to surrender unconditionally, which he refused.
General Raheel Sharif was briefed in detail about progress of Operation Zarb-e-Azb. The tribal region, which borders with Afghanistan, has been used as a base by militants over the years.
This exodus of militants from the region has caused complications with the Kabul government’s US-backed military operations against their own Taliban insurgence.
