High Schoolers Walk Out Over Trans Classmate Using the Girls’ Locker Room

Students at Hillsboro High School are starting conflicting protests over an effort by a transgender student to use the girl’s bathroom.
Sadly, a lot of locals and relatives are adding the fuel to the fire by also protesting, and some have even stooped as low as suggesting that Lila is “pretending” to be transgender so she can sneak into the girl’s locker room.
“I think this is pure and simple bigotry I think they are using their claim they are uncomfortable, to target me a transgender woman”, she said. I don’t believe for a second that they are.
The school has since issued a statement saying it will promote tolerance and accepts all students regardless of gender or sexual orientation. She will continue to use the girl’s bathroom, however. Apropos of nothing, the year is 2015.
“I feel these girls have a right to their own privacy”, Childs said. When the new school year started, Hillsboro High School officials decided that Perry would no longer be able to use the faculty unisex bathroom, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Administrators at the high school referred the Post Dispatch’s questions to Superintendent Aaron Cornman who told the paper that the district “respects the rights of all students and appreciates the fact that the students we are educating are willing to stand on their belief system and to support their cause/beliefs through their expression of free speech”. “I wasn’t hurting anyone and I didn’t want to feel segregated out”. I am a girl. “I am not going to be pushed away to another bathroom”.
Although Perry has since dropped out of the PE because she was concerned with the lack of supervision in the class, Good drafted a policy and introduced it at last Thursday’s school board meeting that would force students to use the restrooms and locker rooms associated with their biological gender or gender-neutral bathrooms.
